There are 118 descriptive articles in Supplement I on public ground-water supplies, consisting of:

105 incorporated municipalities 3 unincorporated municipalities 4 state parks 3 state institutions 1 private institution 1 municipal airport 1 municipal school district

There are 99 towns having populations of less than 1000 persons.

As of December 1, 1957 there were 150 wells in service, for the 108 communities, producing 6. 576 mgd. In Bulletin 40 there were 501 incorporated communities with a total average pumpage of 141.70 mgd. In all there are 604 incorporated communities, (exclusive of Decatur and Jacksonville which have supplemental well supplies) having a total average pumpage of 148. 28 mgd.
