Help with WARM Sediment Data

To Download Data to your Computer:
To download data files to your computer, you need to save them. First, decide which data file you would like to save to your computer. In your web browser, click on the CSV link for your chosen data file. In the resulting "Save As" box, choose a location on your computer to save the file. Click Save, which will save the text file on your computer's hard drive. The file now resides on your computer, in the location that you specified.

To Print the Data Directly from the Source File:
First, save the data file (or text file) to your computer. In your web browser, click on the CSV link for your chosen data file. In the resulting "Save As" box, choose a location on your computer to save the file. Click Save, which will save the text file on your computer's hard drive. The file now resides on your computer, in the location that you specified.

Once you have saved the text file on your hard drive, open the file in your favorite spreadsheet application (Excel and Quatro Pro are two examples). First, start your spreadsheet application. Most applications reside in the Programs directory, which may be found by going to Start -> Programs. Search this directory for the icon, or folder full of icons, that will open your spreadsheet program.

Once you have opened your spreadsheet application, you may open the data file. Do this by going to File -> Open, and then in the "Open" box, navigating to the location in which you saved the file during the first step. Select the file, and click the "Open" button. The CSV file will open in your spreadsheet application.

The page is now ready to print by using File -> Print.

If the data is too wide to fit on an 8½ X 11 page, orient the page layout to landscape by going to File -> Page Setup. In the "Page Setup" box, find the "orientation" area and change the choice from "portrait" to "landscape". Click the "Ok" button. Try printing again using the last step.

To Print the Data from a Web Browser:
First, navigate to the data file you would like to print in your favorite web browser. Make sure to click on the station number, and not the CSV link. In your browser, click on File --> Print. The web page, and data contained therein, will print out.

Help with CSV Files:
CSV files are standard text files with an extension of ".csv" instead of ".txt". If you click on a CSV file in your browser, the file will download to your computer (see "To Download Data to your Computer" above). Once the files are on your computer, CSV files will open in a spreadsheet program if you have one installed. If you do not have a spreadsheet program installed, open the CSV file in Notepad and view it there.
