About WARM
The Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) has a long history of collecting and archiving a wide multitude of quality water and
atmospheric resource observations across the state. Housed within the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and located on the
campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, the ISWS has documented extensive volumes of these data for more than 100
years in support of numerous informational needs concerning the water and atmospheric resources of Illinois.
The Water and Atmospheric Resources Monitoring Program (WARM for short) was initiated in the late 1980's to coordinate monitoring
activities within several pre-existing ISWS data collection efforts. Premier to this program are measurements on Illinois climate
and soil conditions, streamflow, water table levels, reservoir heights, and sediment transport in rivers and streams.
Within these web pages are displays of current and archived information from these monitoring networks, as well as listings of numerous
current and past datasets collected and/or archived by the ISWS. Concomitant with these data is basic information on each network
where available, and links to many datasets operated and maintained by other state agencies or private businesses in Illinois. Most
data are public domain in content; however, some have proprietary restrictions to their use.
