Who: Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM) Where: Peoria Holiday Inn City Centre, Peoria ILWhen: May 3-5, 2000 Details: The Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM), the oldest and largest state organization of its kind, has scheduled its 14th Annual Conference "At the Confluence of the Centuries, Uniting Statewide Experience" at the Peoria Holiday Inn City Centre on May 3-5, 2000. The Conference, being held near the beautifully renovated Peoria River Front, will provide Illinois’ largest forum for planners, engineers, surveyors, community officials, and floodplain and stormwater managers to exchange information and experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to hear top federal, state, and local officials present current issues in floodplain management, regulations, smart growth, new legislation, innovative watershed management, new engineering studies and techniques, initiating new floodplain mapping, Geographic Information Systems, countywide stormwater management, updates from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal and state agencies, and the new Floodplain Managers Home Study Course. Also being offered are the Floodplain Managers Certification Exam and workshops on the new Elevation Certificate, floodplain management, and floodplain map revisions.
