Illinois EPA Division of Public Water Supplies Drought Report

August 3, 2005

ROCKFORD

SURFACE WATER RESERVOIRS

No quantity problems reported by Moline - just algae.

Moline reports RI & E. Moline have the same issue but are controlling it.  Have inquiry in to RI & E.Moline.  Appears to be routine summer algae treatment regime.

Davenport IA plant capacity is reportedly stressed - 32 MGD demand - 30 MGD plant rating & short filter runs due to algae.

I have a message in to Streator for an update, hope to have something back this am.

Note: Detailed report to follow next week.

ELGIN

SURFACE WATER RESERVOIRS

Most water supplies not using Lake Michigan source water are operating under water use restrictions.

Elgin (does not have any water use restrictions in place, voluntary conservation has been requested) and Aurora are augmenting their surface water withdrawals with their groundwater supplies.

Surface water flows are adequate at these supplies and increased groundwater withdrawal  is normal at this time of year.

Elgin does not have any water use restrictions in place and has requested voluntary conservation measures.  Joliet remains on a water ban.

Aqua Illinois‑Kankakee continues to have an adequate supply.

Note: Detailed report to follow next week.
