Virtually no rain fell in Illinois in the last week (June 16-22), leading to a worsening of conditions in the state. Since March 1, the state has received only 7.95 inches compared to a normal of 14.25 inches, resulting in a 6.3 inch deficit. Temperatures for the week were 3 to 6 degrees below normal. Over the next two weeks, the National Weather Service is expecting above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation. Historically, dry springs in Illinois have often led to summers that were warmer and drier than normal.
