The Illinois Water Resources Center staff announces the second biennial conference engaging all
citizens and groups interested in water resource issues in Illinois. The conference will focus on science,
technology, and policy developments, while bringing major water resource organizations and interests
together to explore common ground. Activities include plenary and technical sessions, guest speakers,
and a conference banquet. The conference will address water conservation and drought preparedness,
non-point source pollution, water education, inland lakes, and urban stormwater. Dr. Don
Wilhite, Director of the National Drought Mitigation Center and the International Drought Information Center,
University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be one of the featured speakers. For more information about Dr.

Scientists and professionals are invited to present technical papers and posters on current water resource topics at Illinois Water 2000. Concurrent technical sessions will be conducted on the afternoon of November 13 and the morning of November 14. In order to be considered, abstracts must be received no later than June 23. A review panel assembled by the Illinois Section of the American Water Resources Association will conduct evaluations. Selections will be announced by August 1. All presenters must register for the conference. Guidelines for the abstracts are as follows: * Each abstract should not exceed 1 single-spaced page with 12-point type and one-inch margins top,
bottom and sides.
