How to Fill Out the Water Use Part of the Inventory Form

 

Facilities in the IWIP database are categorized as to type:

 

  • Public Water Supply
  • Commercial or Industrial
  • Conservation, Fish & Wildlife, or Irrigation

 

Depending on your type of facility, the number of questions will vary, from four questions to seven questions.

 

Public Water Supplies

 

  1. If you bought water from another facility during the specified year, enter the figure in the “Total Annual Gallons Purchased” column. If you withdrew water from your own wells or surface water intakes, enter the figure in the “Total Annual Gallons Withdrawn” column.
  2. If you purchased water, indicate the supplier.
  3. Indicate whether your facility sells water to another public water supply system. If yes, provide the name(s) of systems to which you sell.
  4. Provide the population within city limits and outside city limits.
  5. Enter the number of residential services and the number of gallons of water used annually by residents.
  6. Enter the number of commercial services and the number of gallons of water used by those services. Note: Commercial services are nonmanufacturing entities. Examples include truckstops, car dealerships, small businesses, car washes, roller rinks, restaurants, etc.
  7. Enter the number of industrial services and the number of gallons of water used annually by those services. Note: Industrial services are manufacturing entities, such as fertilizer plants, soybean processing plants, and other types of factories.

 

Commercial-Industrial Facilities

 

1.      Enter the “Total Annual Gallons Purchased” or “Total Annual Gallons Withdrawn” on the top line of the two columns.

A.      Processing/Washing

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

B.     Cooling & Condensing

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

C.     Boiler Feed

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

D.     Employee/Sanitary

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

E.     Hydroelectric Flows

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

F.      Other (Recirculated water, irrigation, etc.)

Enter the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn in each column.

2.      Supplier of Purchased Gallons

Indicate the name of the supplier.

3.      Average number of employees, patrons, etc. daily

Indicate a daily average (not a yearly total)

4.      (Power Generation Stations) Your total annual power generation during (the specified year):

Enter the number. For clarity, circle or check the unit (kilowatt, megawatt, or millions of kilowatt-hours).

 

Conservation, Irrigation, and Fish & Wildlife Facilities

 

  1. Total: Indicate the annual water amounts purchased or withdrawn for the specified year.
  2. Other (fowl flooding, etc.): Indicate the annual amount used for the special purpose. Please circle or otherwise indicate the use.
  3. Average number of employees, patrons, etc. daily: Please indicate a daily average, not a yearly total.
  4. Supplier of Purchased Gallons: Indicate the supplier.
