The
agricultural meteorology/climatology program at the Illinois State Water Survey
(ISWS) includes research into the responses of agricultural systems to weather and
climate. Research has focused mainly
on the effects of temperature and drought on
the corn and soybean crops through the use of field experiments, and studies using
crop yield and climate data. In addition to data collected through the experiments,
the program cooperates with the ISWS' Water & Atmospheric Resources Monitoring (WARM)
program in the operation of a network of automated weather stations.
The program serves the citizens of Illinois through the provision
of the weather data, and presentation of extension talks relative to
weather and climates impacts on Illinois agriculture.
